What do you want under your tree?
Well with Christmas rearing it’s merry draconic head around the corner we all have our lists of goodies that we want because we know it’s not just about giving but receiving lot’s of epic loot. As for myself I tend to ask for things like games or RPG books that I just didn’t get a chance to buy. Being in so many hobbies it’s just so hard to keep up to date with one thing in it’s entirety. This year my wish list is mainly RPG books. But with so much out there what the heck do I get? I know I have been meaning to catch up on my 4th edition books cause there are quite a bit at this point. I mean Players Handbook 3 is around the corner not to mention all the other supplemental books like Martial Power, etc. But then again there are so many good settings out there right now. Do I poke around and discover new worlds to explore.
It truly is a tough choice but I think I will be opting to try new things and get up to date of some things. Primarily on my list is the new Forgotten Realms setting. Yup, while that may not mean anything to anyone it’s there. For one my dog totally shat beside the 3.0 one and now has a funky ass juice smell. Apparently little Tessa the terror is not a fan of 3.0 Realms and I will be honest with you, it seemed kind of dull. The production of the book was great but it was bland. I tried reading through it but it was more like reading a science book. Certain types of writing styles have a tendency to repel me or attract me. The former was the case. That being said the new setting has some drastic changes to liven up the setting. I think that’s a good thing. Back in the day we would DM something exclusively but now were actually want to play games we personally used to run. Plus one persons take on it could be oppostie of the others not to mention with the recent changes no better way to jump in so to speak.
Next on my list are some White Wolf titles. I would like to grab Hunter: The Vigil, Changeling: The Lost and add them to my World of Darkness collection. After readiing some material on them recently I have been compelled towards them. I see loads of role playing potential in these titles if not a challenge to make it freaking awesome for the players. It also gives us a chance to explore the New World of Darkness rules.
Another isAnima. It seem’s like a really awesome setting, very anime (obviously from the style). I’ve had my eye on this one for awhile and heard good things so worth checking out.
Lastly I am also looking into Conan. I’m very interested in the setting and thing there is a lot of great potential in it for great games.
So that being said there is my wish list thus far. I’m curous to know what you all will be asking RPG wise for the holidays. Head to the comments and post your top 5 items on your christmas wish list.
